For my draft my number one concern was to make something simple that fits well into my blog topic. From that main point I decided to go with the idea of a minimalistic luggage set that has the name of my blog across the two suitcases in the front. This is very clearly related to the topic of my blog because I have chosen to write about traveling throughout Europe and so the luggage set is fitting. I also included the added touch of “stickers” on the suitcases with various names of notable destinations throughout Europe, as an added dimension of interest.

I didn’t really do any research in figuring out my design. I suppose a lot of the inspiration for it came from many modern logos sticking to a more minimalist idea and trying to keep the design clean and simple. It is the idea of keeping a logo simple and thus easy for the audience to process and recall to memory when seen again. In corporate logo design it is key that the audience does not have to think too hard to associate the logo with the company and their mission and goals.
To create this project, I used fairly simple illustrator techniques. Because of what I chose to do for my logo it was essentially using a collection of separate rounded rectangles and arranging them some in front and some in back to create a feeling of depth in the layout of the image. Within each shape I added a gradient to the background as well. I struggled at the beginning in figuring out how to make the logo not seem as flat and so I chose to attempt a gradient within the base shape of the suitcases, and I am quite happy with how it came out. I was lucky outside of this minor setback and avoided any issues with the actual adobe software while completing the logo design.
This idea is so cute and I love how much you added to it since your paper draft. One thing I love about it is the way you used the stickers on the bags to show all the places you have traveled, super creative. One thing I would maybe change is how you have the words on two different bags, I would consider putting them on one or maybe not use your name. Another thing to consider is maybe making the wheel look more like a wheel by filling it in and adding a different color circle inside. I love how you did the handles and the outer blue layer around the bags. I think one idea to maybe think about is changing the shapes of the stickers to make them look more diverse as if you got them from different places. I would also consider a different font, maybe making it look embroidered into the bags. Overall, it is super cute and you did a great job with it!

After looking over the one comment that has been left on my draft at this time, I have definitely found some things that I can change to improve about my design. It was brought to my attention that one way I could improve the design is to fill in the center circle of the wheel on the front suitcase to make it more noticeable and appear more like a wheel rather than a one-dimensional circle. Upon looking more closely I also think that I will change the shapes of the stickers to make them look more unique and make them easier for the audience to interpret as stickers. Having each of them be a separate shape makes it more realistic to see them as stickers rather than just shapes copy and pasted on. I also got the feedback that it may look better to have all the words on the main suitcase rather than split between two, so I will mess around with that a little bit during my revision and editing process to see what works best.

Hey Cassandra,
I really like your design and I think it immediately draws attention to your topic. The luggage screams travel, and I like how they are different sizes and shapes. I also like that you added the different cities of large travel hot spots around the world. All of the suitcases pull attention. An area I think that could improve your logo is the wheel on the bigger suitcase and the title words. If you were to fill in the wheel and make it look a little more like a wheel, I think it would add to the overall design concept. Another improvement I think you could make is changing the color of the suitcases to add a little more depth to the design. Overall, I think your design is really cool and perfectly captures your blog topic. I think if you make the suitcases a little more real looking it will be great.
Thanks,

Hello Cassandra I really enjoyed your creation! I think that you did an excellent job in creating something simple that represents your “brand” or blog topic, as well as in using multiple techniques learned from the illustrator tutorials. That being said, I think that two things you could do to improve this could potentially be adding texture, and a background. I understand that you want your project to be simple, and so if adding color or text to the background takes away too much, I understand. However, I do believe that adding some texture or perhaps just a little more effect to the luggage would look very good-although your gradient looks great as well!
